From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured that with the verdict of the Supreme Court affirming his election victory, governance will be quicker, faster and bolder.
Sanwo-Olu, who was among the 15 members of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF) that met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, attributed his victory to the support of citizens across party affiliations.
Addressing State House Correspondents at the presidential villa, Abuja, he pledged accelerated development with inclusivity, urging unity for the vision of a greater Lagos.
His words: “I think first, it is really to thank God that we’ve been able to get to the end of all of these courts process and it gives us the full profile to affirm victory at polls, but pretty much, it’s really just to thank all of our citizens in Lagos for their support, irrespective of what party affiliation you are, and to call all Lagosians to join us once again, on our greater Lagos journey.
“It’s a journey where we have said no one will be left behind. We are transforming the state, the city. We’re building structures and processes, institutions that will outlive us, and we’re putting in place a governance structure that would improve the economic relevance of Lagos in the country. And so for us, it’s not just about the victory. It’s about the people that are putting all of their hope and aspiration into our governmental.
“So, really, it is to ask everybody to join us, irrespective of whatever party it is, and to see that indeed the train in Lagos is moving. Yes, we have a real physical train, but the train of governance is moving. And what we have assured is that we will do it quicker, faster and bolder. And we’ve promised to pretty much use every energy that we have to ensure that the economic and commercial nerve centre of the country remains, by the benefit that the citizens see in all human capital index in education, health, infrastructure, tourism, security, everything that makes Lagos resilient.
“And so it’s not an APC victory. It’s not a Babajide Sanwoolu victory, it’s a Lagos call in action for all of us to work for the citizens and to make meaningful development for our people.”
