With the Supreme Court judgment that on Thursday that upheld the election of President Bola Tinubu, a Northern group, Arewa Think Tank said there was no victor and no vanquish.

A statement by the Convener of Arewa Think Tank, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu said President Tinubu should imbibe the spirit of forgiveness and carry everybody along irrespective of political difference.

The apex court in its ruling dismissed the appeals by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart Peter Obi.

“We all hailed the judgment and it’s now time for the President to focus on good governance for the people and fulfil all the election campaign promises he made.

“Concerning the acceptance of this verdict, we urge our colleagues, friends and politicians to accept it in good faith.

“We also have to use this opportunity to congratulate the leaders of other political parties because it is better for them to resort to the judiciary which they have done rather than taking against each other.

“The action of the opposition parties, which resorted to the judiciary means that democracy is getting matured in Nigeria and we are happy with that.

“Now is the time for all Nigerians particularly the President to roll up his sleeves and continue with the governance.

“We need to come together as one country, one people and move ahead and take this country to where it rightfully belongs.

“As Arewa Think Tank group we want the country to move forward. So we congratulate Mr. President and we believe no more speculation so Mr. President will be focused and do what he is supposed to do for Nigerians,” the group said.

Menawhile, Arewa Think Tank has faulted those attacking the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying such persons want to destroy Nigeria and run away.

The group added that those critics have the ulterior motive to plunge the country into anarchy and chaos for selfish interests.

Some northern Islamic leaders recently criticised the status of the Minister of FCT, saying it should belong to only one faith and region.

To this end, the said Islamic leaders called for the removal of Wike as the FCT Minister because he is a Southerner of another faith.

“Those who attacked Wike want to destroy Nigeria because they have dual citizenship, and so they have a choice of belonging to other countries of the world and leave Nigeria in crisis and confusion because of their selfish interests.

“We will not allow few clerics in collaboration with some foreigners who want to destroy this country because we will fight them with the last drop of our blood. If they have other country that they can run to, or if they have dual citizenship, most of us in the country don’t have dual citizenship and we have no other country to run to, so we will not accept that. So they should be prepared to face us.

“We can only have one President at a given time. If some people are not happy with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, they should work towards 2027 general elections and take a stand to vote for the President of their choice. So the attack on Wike was uncalled for because it has a divisive motive.”
