Plateau State police command said there will be a restriction of movement of persons in all parts of the state on Saturday during the governorship re-run in the state.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev, said the restriction would be between 6: am and 6: pm on Saturday.

“The command wishes to inform members of the public that there will be a total restriction of movement of persons and vehicles in all parts of the state from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

“This is in view of the gubernatorial and House of Assembly supplementary elections coming up in the state. The command is committed to ensuring that the good people on the Plateau willing to exercise their franchise do so without fear of molestation.”

He said the action was to prevent people from moving to local governments where elections would not be held to foment trouble.

Tyopev noted that security personnel would be deployed to enforce the restriction order.

“The command calls on the people of the state to be law-abiding and cooperate with security personnel to ensure the success of the electoral process.”
