Super Falcons striker, Ini Umotong has announced her retirement from the round leather game.

Umotong, a first class graduate in Economics from Southampton University and has an MBA in football industries, made her Super Falcons debut against Mali in an All African Games qualifier on March 22, 2015 and also made the squad to the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada.

The 28 -year-old former Brighton and Hove Albion player, made the shocking announcement on her Instagram page.

She wrote, “A trip down memory lane. I’m extremely grateful for my playing career and the incredible memories, experiences and friendships I’ve had along the way

“Really excited for my next opportunity within the sport that has given me so much already. Here’s to the future.”

Umotong scored her first goal for Nigeria in 2019 against Romania at the China4-Nation Tourney.

With 29 goals in 25 league and cup matches, Umotong emerged top goal scorer for Portsmouth. She scored 54 goals in 45 games in total. She scored 17 goals in 26 games for Oxford United and 11 goals in 46 games for Brighton and Hove Albion.
