Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid’s keeper, has apologised to the club’s fans following Wednesday night’s 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-final.

The Belgian also explained why Los Blancos fell against the French Ligue 1 champions.

PSG defeated the LaLiga heavyweights thanks to two goals from Fabian Ruiz and one from Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos.

Speaking immediately after the match at his post-match interview, Courtois said: “We apologize to all our fans.

“Today was a bad hit, but we need to get up from it.

“The problem today is that we didn’t press as a team.”

Real Madrid will now shift their attention to the pre-season ahead of the new 2025/26 season.

They finished in second position on the LaLiga table last season behind champions Barcelona.
