Super Falcons star, Abiodun, out for rest of t season

Abiodun

Washington Spirit midfielder Deborah Abiodun has been ruled out for the rest of the current campaign due to an injury.

The club made the announcement in a statement on its official website early on Tuesday morning, dealing another devastating blow to the Nigerian midfielder after the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Since the start of the season, Abiodun had become a key figure for the club in midfield, featuring in nine matches in total and making four starts to accumulate 320 minutes.

Unfortunately, the Super Falcons midfielder, who suffered the injury, was initially expected to miss about 45 days before she could return to action.

The Nigerian international is, however, expected to undergo surgery this week as she begins the process of recovery.

With this, Abiodun will miss Washington Spirit’s next clash against Boston Legacy FC at Audi Field on Sunday, September 13.

Abiodun will also be disappointed by the latest blow after missing out on the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup tournament following the Falcons’ disastrous WAFCON campaign and defeat to South Africa.

The Nigerian midfielder would, however, be keen to undergo a successful surgery and hope to recover to the pitch soonest as she looks to rediscover her best version.
