The Super Falcons of Nigeria have advanced to the third round of the 2028 Olympic qualifiers after a commanding 5-0 victory over Comoros in the second leg of their second-round tie at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Tuesday.
Nigeria entered the encounter with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg, following goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu, and completed the job with another emphatic performance.
The Super Falcons took control of the second leg and broke the deadlock in the 41st minute through Toni Payne.
Uchenna Kanu won possession after pressing the Comoros goalkeeper before setting up Payne, who finished giving Nigeria a 1-0 lead at half-time.
Nigeria continued to dominate after the restart and doubled their advantage in the 57th minute when Kanu headed home from Folashade Ijamilusi’s cross.
Payne completed her brace six minutes later, converting a good opportunity created by substitute Blessing Okpe to make it 3-0.
Kanu then added her second goal of the match in the 66th minute, again finding the net with a header following another assist from Ijamilusi.
Nigeria was awarded a penalty after Okpe was fouled inside the box, and Christy Ucheibe calmly converted from the spot in the 72nd minute to complete the 5-0 rout.
The result gives Nigeria a 7-0 aggregate victory and sends the 10-time African champions into the third round, where they are scheduled to face Morocco in March 2027.
