Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured a spot in the 2024 edition of the Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco after beating Cape Verde 2-1 on Tuesday evening in Praia.

The Super Falcons who put five goals past Cape Verde in the 1st leg in Abuja, qualified for the women’s tourney on 7-1 aggregate.

Nigeria, joins host Morocco and defending champions South Africa in the championship with goals from Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo, after the Super Falcons had trailed 1-0 at the Estádio Nacional de Cabo Verde in Praia.

Cape Verde took a surprise lead in the 9th minute through Ivania Tavares Moreira.

Despite creating several goalscoring chances, the Super Falcons failed to level proceedings before going into halftime.

However, Super Falcons showed class when substitute Esther Okoronkwo produced a sublime finish to equalize in the 60th minute.

Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Ajibade then put the icing on the cake for Nigeria, scoring the winning goal deep in stoppage time to earn Super Falcons a double over over Cape Verdeans.
