Super Eagles stars, Terry salute Mikel Obi

Super Eagles stars, former Chelsea captain John Terry and football fans across the globe has reacted to the news of John Mikel Obi’s retirement from active football.

Mikel announced on Tuesday via his Instagram account that he will be retiring from the game after 20 years.

“There is a saying that “all good things must come to an end”, and for my professional football career, that day is today,” Obi said in a statement.

“I look back at the past 20 years of my career, and I must say that I am very satisfied with all that I was able to achieve and more importantly the human it has helped shape.

Ex-teammates and fans  have since taken to social media to laud the midfielder for what many described as a legendary career.

Reacting to the news, Odion Ighalo wrote; “Congrats skip and good luck.

Terry, who is now a development coach at Stamford Bridge, wrote on Instagram: “What a great career my friend, it was a pleasure to play and share a dressing room with you. Love you Georgie Boy.”

Ogenyi Onazi wrote; “Ahh Skippo I miss you sha..LEGEND

“Enjoy your retirement Skippo , Collins Jamie tweeted.
