Sundry Foods Limited (SFL), a food services company in Nigeria, has organised an internal blood donation drive to commemorate the 2025 World Blood Donor Day.
The initiative, consistent with its commitment to community health and corporate social responsibility blueprint, held over the weekend at the company’s corporate headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
It was conducted in collaboration with the Armed Forces Blood Centre.
More than 100 staff members across various departments volunteered to donate blood as part of the company’s contribution to saving lives and supporting public health.
World Blood Donor Day, observed annually on June 14, raises awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and recognizes the invaluable role of voluntary, unpaid donors in sustaining national healthcare systems.
Speaking on the initiative, Nduka Mokwunye, Head of Marketing at SFL, noted that the blood donation exercise reflects the company’s broader social responsibility commitments.
“The blood donation drive conducted by the company is a demonstration of our commitment to the community and to the corporate social responsibility programmes initiated by SFL,” he said.
He added that the company was particularly inspired by the 2025 theme: “Give blood, give hope: together we save lives.”
Also commenting on the exercise, Executive Director of SFL, Nnamdi Opara, emphasized that the company’s participation underscores its belief in shared responsibility for community well-being.
“For us at SFL, our in-house blood donation initiative is our modest contribution to enhancing the objectives of blood bank stocks and raising awareness of the importance and benefits of blood donation in the communities,” he stated.
“We recognize that saving lives is not for caregivers alone but everybody’s business because we value the health and well-being of members of the community.”
Opara described blood donation as a life-saving act critical for treating injuries, conducting surgeries, and managing various medical conditions. He stressed the need for a consistent and safe blood supply to ensure that hospitals can provide effective care and respond to emergencies.
“At SFL, we are constantly seeking ways to positively impact the lives of people living in our host communities,” he said.
“Our corporate responsibility teams are always working hard to identify ways in which we can make bigger impacts in society.”
Reiterating SFL’s long-standing commitment to impactful causes, Opara affirmed that the company would continue to support initiatives that directly improve the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
