The honour bestowed on Governor Peter Mbah as The Sun Newspaper’s Man of the Year has drawn commendation from Chief Patrick Onuokaibe, who says the recognition reflects visible development in rural communities across Enugu State.

Onuokaibe, Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company Ltd, said residents of Mburubu in Nkanu East Local Government Area are witnessing practical evidence of the governor’s commitment to inclusive growth through road, education and healthcare projects.

He cited the ongoing construction of the 12.96-kilometre Nomeh–Mburubu–Nara Road and the 7.20-kilometre Mburubu–Nkereffi Road as game-changers for access, trade and farming, particularly during the rainy season when poor roads previously hampered movement.

According to him, Mburubu is also hosting an Enugu State Smart Green School and a Type 2 Primary Healthcare Hospital, both about 90 per cent completed and expected to improve learning conditions and access to medical services when operational.

He said the projects have strengthened economic and social activities while restoring residents’ confidence that government can deliver meaningful grassroots development.

In a congratulatory message, Onuokaibe stated: “This honour did not come as a surprise to us. You have shown Ndi Enugu that leadership is about the will and ability to deliver the dividends of democracy through clear action and results.

“In Mburubu, we are experiencing government presence in a way we have not seen in many years. The ongoing road projects have eased movement for farmers, traders, pupils and patients, while connecting us better to neighbouring communities.

“Our community is also benefiting from a Smart Green School and a Type 2 Primary Healthcare Hospital, both nearing completion. These projects clearly demonstrate a commitment to rural development and inclusive growth.”

He expressed hope that the pace of work would be sustained for timely completion and assured the governor of continued support from the people of Mburubu.
