Indigenous construction firm, Stretford Hill Limited, has delivered the structural and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for the five-storey headquarters of Canary Point Holdings in Lekki, Lagos, underscoring the capacity of local engineering companies to execute complex commercial building projects.

The facility was officially commissioned on October 27, 2026, at a ceremony attended by Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; Chairman of Canary Point Holdings, Kayode Lambo; Group Managing Director of Canary Point Holdings, Idris Ibrahim; and other government officials and business leaders.

Stretford Hill Limited, which served as the main contractor for the structural and MEP components, handled the building’s structural works from the foundation to the roof slab, as well as the installation of its mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

The project also involved specialist contractors responsible for other aspects of the development, including interior finishing, alongside consultants and other project stakeholders.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Chief Executive Officer of Stretford Hill Limited, Engr. Lakunle Runsewe, FNSE, said the successful delivery of the project reflected the importance of engineering precision, quality control and collaboration among construction professionals.

He explained that structural components and building services must be carefully coordinated to ensure that a commercial facility functions as an integrated system.

Runsewe expressed appreciation to Canary Point Holdings for entrusting the company with the project, while acknowledging the contributions of consultants, specialist contractors, interior finishing teams and other stakeholders involved in the development.

He said the company remained committed to demonstrating the capabilities of indigenous construction expertise through sound engineering, professional accountability and quality project delivery.

Established in 2013, Stretford Hill Limited provides building construction, civil engineering and infrastructure services across the commercial, residential, institutional and industrial sectors.

The company is ISO 9001:2015-certified, a standard that provides a framework for quality management systems and continuous improvement in its operations.

The commissioning of the Canary Point Holdings headquarters comes amid continued demand for commercial real estate and infrastructure development in Lagos, one of Nigeria’s major business and investment centres.

The project highlights the role of indigenous engineering and construction firms in delivering commercial developments, particularly through the coordination of structural engineering and essential building services.

However, the release did not disclose the project’s total cost, the number of jobs created or the extent of local materials and personnel deployed in its execution.
