St Anthony’s Model College Alumni Association (1988 Set) has elected an interim executive committee that will steer the leadership of the association for the next couple of years.
Mr Mathew Izediunor was elected the Association’s President through a unanimous decision during the association’s general meeting held virtually.
Other elected members of the Interim Committee include Anthony Okafor – Vice President; Emeka Okafor – General Secretary; Victor Nwuzor -Treasurer; Ebu-Mordi Boniface – Special Duties/Protocols; Ifeadi Victor – Logistics Director and Awunor Ogor – Publicity Secretary.
In his acceptance speech as an interim chairman, Mr Izediunor thanked his old classmates for finding him worthy of the chairmanship position.
Mr Izediunor said, “Within the last two weeks, the class of 88 sets decided to elect an executive whose responsibility it will be to coordinate the affairs of the group. During the process, members nominated me for the position of chairman. I have waited for dissenting votes and none has come up till now. On the strength of the above, it may not be wrong to assume that the body has, therefore, elected me as the chairman.
“However, although it may not have been convenient when your peers give you an assignment, you do not reject it. Consequently, I want to thank you all who found me worthy for this position and therefore, accept your assignment.”
Corroborating the new Chairman, the Publicity Secretary, Awunor Ogor, in a statement issued after the election, assured members that the new executive committee, under the leadership of Mr Izediunor, would maintain the same good standards set by other reputable alumni associations.
Awunor added that the formation of the interim exco was informed by the need to establish enthusiastic drivers of their visions, just as he stated that, they are planning for projects to deliver expeditiously that will eventually motivate and excite other old students to be part of the association.
