The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, have jointly announced a 7-day warning strike in response to the withholding of their salaries during the 2022 nationwide strike.

SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim, disclosed this to journalists on Monday, stating that the decision was made during a joint action committee meeting held in Akure, Ondo State capital, on Thursday and Friday.

Ibrahim stressed that the strike was a final recourse following multiple protest letters and communications with the Federal Government, all of which failed to yield any resolution.

Presenting the communiqué in Abuja, he stated, “If the Federal Government does not take concrete steps to address this issue and respond to our previous correspondence, members of both unions may soon convene to consider all lawful and decisive measures on the matter.”
