SPS@50: US based scholar, Maureen Idehen-Ovabor applauds Nigeria educational system

Muareen Idehen-Ovabor, a United State based scholar has thumbed up the Nigeria educational system, while giving kudos to government, parents and guardians who played different role in ensuring kids graduate with flying colours.

Idehen-Ovabor, disclosed this during her schools, Springfield Private School [SPS] and Bosede Idehen International [BIIA] 50th anniversary which was staged at institution premises in Ekoro Road, Abule Egba, Lagos.

The week-long activities also includes debate and spelling competition, sports festival, alumni reunion, community service day, health awareness and and golden jubilee ceremony scheduled to hold today, 11th of October, 2025.

Gracing the sports festival, Idehen-Ovabor who currently serves as proprietress of the institution owned by her late mother, applauded all guardians and teachers for impacting positively to growth of the students. She however emphasized on the country’s standard of education while lauding her school legacy and success achieved in the last five decades of her existence.

‘ I’m glad to be here today. Seeing this kids showcasing sports talent gives me joy and hope their future will be brighter. Aside sports, we’ve recorded lots of academic success and our students has always made us proud during external exams.’

‘I must confess Nigeria educational system has really improve. I’ve witnessed the system in the United Kingdom and the United State but I can proudly say our system here in Nigeria is also top notch. I’m also using this medium to praise parents, teachers and government for their unending love and support they’ve contributed to the development of the system.’

‘Our celebration continue today. 50 years in the system is not an easy task. We have witnessed lots of challenges and I thank God we are able to scale through all. I urge all to join us celebrate this milestone and I can assure them there is lots to eat and drink,’ she stated.

Meanwhile, the sports fiesta scheduled as part of build-up to the 50th anniversary, saw Yellow House emerged overall winner with 4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze.

Lemon House, finished 2nd with 3 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze while Purple and Blue House finished 3rd and 4th respective.
