Nigeria’s Sports Minister, John Enoh, has ignited excitement among football fans by hinting at an imminent announcement regarding the Super Eagles’ new head coach, Soccernet.ng reports.

During an appearance on Politics Tonight on Channels TV, Enoh revealed that the long-awaited decision is on the horizon, raising hopes that a new coach will soon take the helm of the national team.

The Super Eagles coaching position became vacant less than two months after Finidi George resigned from his role, leaving the team without a head coach as crucial qualification games loom.

With less than 30 days remaining until Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying clash against the Republic of Benin, concerns have mounted within the Nigerian football community over the absence of a coach to guide the team to victory.

Acknowledging the urgency of the situation, Sports Minister Enoh assured fans that the appointment of a new head coach is imminent, stating, “The appointment will be sooner rather than later.”

In the wake of Finidi’s departure, several high-profile coaches have been linked to the Super Eagles job. These include Herve Renard, Eric Chelle, as well as local coaches like Samson Siasia and Salisu Yusuf.

Despite the speculation, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has yet to reveal its final choice, though it is clear that a coach must be in place before the next crucial match.
