The race for the premier grassroots football initiative, Spires 5-Aside football tournament, aims to nurture and develop young talents for national and international, will begins on Saturday April 19.
According to the convener of the tournament, Dr Femi Bankole Allibay, a total of 40 teams, representing the five divisions of Lagos will take part in the Season 2 meant to fostering regional representation and unity.
Dr Allibay stressed that to reflect the commitment to excellence, the participation fee for each team has been adjusted to N100,000 with a substantial increase in the prize money for the top three teams in each division as well as for outstanding performances.
“The Spires 5-Aside tournament is designed to identify, nurture and promote football talents within the age of 16-21 bracket, providing them with structured pathways for professional careers in football. This year’s edition has seen significant enhancements to further elevate the competition and opportunities for participants,” Dr Allibay stressed.
