The Southern Governors’ Forum has condoled with Katsina State governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, over the death of his mother, Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Baribari, who breathed her last in the early hours of Sunday March 23, 2025, at the age of 93.
The chairman of the forum, Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Radda and the people of Katsina State.
He was represented by the state deputy governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, an engineer.
A press release issued on Friday by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, stated that Salako-Oyedele, in her remarks, emphasised the universal nature of grief and the importance of celebrating a life well lived.
“There is never a good time to lose a parent, but we take solace in the impactful life lived – a legacy that endures in family and society.
“We pray that Almighty Allah accepts her righteous deeds, forgive her shortcomings, and grants her Al-Jannatul Firdaus. May He also grant us all long life in good health, enabling us to leave behind positive legacies for future generations.”
Salako-Oyedele noted the state’s remarkable beauty and the exceptional hospitality of its people, even in moments of profound sorrow.
In her separate remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, Hajia Aisha Rimi, who was on the delegation of the Ogun State deputy governor, offered special prayers for the late Hajiya Safara’u and extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Radda.
Speaking on behalf of Katsina State Government, the Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, noted: “It is indeed an honour to receive this high-powered delegation from Ogun State.”
He deeply appreciated the commitment shown by Governor Abiodun and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum in sending such a distinguished team to commiserate with the state.
“We are sincerely grateful for the prayers, condolences, and solidarity from the government and good people of Ogun State. Your visit and supplications for our late mother are a great comfort,” Jobe stated.
