Southern Atlantic University (SAU) has announced the naming of its main administrative building after Senator Dr Orji Uzor Kalu (MON), in recognition of his longstanding support for the institution and its leadership.
In a formal letter dated December 5, 2025, jointly signed by Pastor Bassey James, Founder and Chancellor of Southern Atlantic University, and Professor Ephraim Edem, Vice Chancellor, the university informed the senator that its Board of Trustees and Governing Council had approved the decision to designate the administrative complex as the Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu Administrative Building.
According to the university, the building houses key offices, including those of the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, and Bursar, making it a central hub for the institution’s academic and administrative operations.

The management of Southern Atlantic University noted that the honour was bestowed in appreciation of Senator Kalu’s consistent encouragement and support to the university’s founder and chancellor, Pastor Bassey James, a relationship the institution said dates back several decades.
The university also expressed its intention to formally commission the building and extended an invitation to Senator Kalu to visit the campus at his convenience for the official ceremony. Management assured him of its commitment to continue recognising and honouring his contributions in the future.
Southern Atlantic University, located along Airport Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, is a federally approved private institution under the supervision of the National Universities Commission (NUC).
