The South-South Zonal Office of the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) has recorded the largest seizures of arms in the country, outpacing all other zones, Director-General DIG Johnson Kokumo (rtd) has said.

Maj.-Gen. Sani Suleiman, Director of Policy and Plans, NCCSALW, who represented the DG in Calabar to assess the zone’s operations, rated the office highly and described its performance as exceptional.

“The input coming from the zonal office has been of good quality. It has been very helpful at the headquarters,” he said. “Like I said, we had the largest seizure of arms in this zone, more than any other zone within the country.”

He also disclosed a significant recent arrest of a suspect who had evaded capture for a long time, describing it as a major success.

Kokumo attributed the results to responsive leadership and strong collaboration with sister agencies, noting that the zone has been the most active in intelligence gathering and has uncovered the highest number of arms caches in the last three years.
