SONT Lagos chapter reaches out to widows, schools in October outreach programs 2025

The Straight Outta Navy Town (SONT), Lagos Chapter, successfully concluded its October Outreach Program 2025, a five-day impactful initiative held between Wednesday, 1st October and Sunday, 5th October 2025, aimed at giving back to the Navy Town community and uplifting lives through social support, education, and sports.

The outreach commenced on Wednesday, 1st October, with the Widows’ Support Package Day at Narawa Hall, Navy Town, Ojo. Over 140 widows drawn from various religious institutions within the community, including the Catholic Church, Mosque, St. Andrew’s Church and members of SONT received support packages branded with the association’s crest.

The event featured goodwill messages, prayers, and words of encouragement, with entertainment and refreshments provided.

On Friday, 3rd October, the program continued with School Visitation and Hygiene Awareness Drives across three secondary schools in Navy Town. The Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Navy Town Secondary School, and Navy Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) Secondary School.

The team sensitized students on personal hygiene and distributed sanitary pads for girls and hygiene kits for boys. Partnering brands Indomie Nigeria, Urels Waters, and Kellogg’s Nigeria joined the outreach, donating products and engaging students in fun educational sessions that emphasized nutrition and wellness

The grand finale was held on Sunday, 5th October 2025, at the Navy Town Sports Stadium, featuring an exciting football match between NTSSOSA (Navy Town Secondary School Old Students Association) and NNSSOSA (Nigerian Navy Secondary School Old Students Association).

The event attracted senior naval officers, including the Commanding Officer, NNS WEY, Commodore S.M. Tasiu, the Executive Officer, Captain Jonah, and Captain Obute, alongside community dignitaries and alumni representatives. The match celebrated unity, sportsmanship, and community spirit.

Speaking during the events, the Acting Coordinator of SONT Lagos Chapter Miss Vanessa Rose Okang appreciated all members, partners, and sponsors for their commitment, particularly noting that “this outreach is not just a program, but a reaffirmation of our shared responsibility to lift others and make impact where it matters most.”
