Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has extended the state’s economic transformation agenda quest from Canada to the US, the heart of the global technology industry, engaging with leading tech and academic institutions in Silicon Valley to advance his administration’s innovation roadmap.

The strategic North America tour forms part of a deliberate governance philosophy introduced by the governor known as “ADTS”, an acronym for Africa, Dubai, Taiwan, and Silicon Valley.   The framework is designed to benchmark Anambra’s development against the world’s most successful innovation ecosystems, adapting global best practices to the state’s unique socio-economic realities.

During his engagements in California, Governor Soludo connected with frontier technology giants and top-tier educational institutions to foster pathways for knowledge transfer, capacity building, and strategic partnerships.

At Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, the governor explored collaborative opportunities to integrate advanced health technologies into Anambra’s medical infrastructure. Discussions centred on knowledge exchange, capacity development, and healthcare innovation aimed at elevating the state’s healthcare system to global standards.

In the area of artificial intelligence and advanced computing, Governor Soludo held high-level talks at NVIDIA, the world’s leading designer of graphics processing units (GPUs). The discussions focused on the transformative potential of AI, GPU computing infrastructure, and developer ecosystems. Both parties explored actionable channels for developing advanced AI computing capabilities in Anambra, alongside leveraging NVIDIA’s global learning resources to train and support the state’s growing pipeline of tech talent.

To address the critical need for world-class human capital, the governor also visited San José State University.

Engagements with the university’s leadership focused on establishing frameworks for faculty exchange, postgraduate training, curriculum co-development, and specialised technology-focused courses designed to equip Anambra’s youth for the future digital economy.

These Silicon Valley engagements align directly with the governor’s broader domestic vision, particularly the development of the Solution Innovation District (SID). The SID is envisioned as a comprehensive platform to drive technology, enterprise, and investment in the state.

Furthermore, the partnerships are expected to accelerate the administration’s ambition to transform Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbariam, into a globally competitive, world-class institution.

The governor said the strategic outreach represents calculated steps towards building mutually beneficial relationships and identifying areas of high-value collaboration to develop robust local capacity, and bring global opportunities back home to Anambra.

The governor, who was accompanied by his key government functionaries during the visit, reiterated that the essence of the ADTS vision is to foster an Anambra that “learns globally, builds locally, and competes confidently with the world.”
