Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has sent heartfelt congratulations to Cardinal Francis Arinze, on the occasion of his 92nd birthday, celebrated on November 1, 2024.
In his message, Governor Soludo hailed Arinze as a distinguished son of Anambra State and a prominent figure in the global Catholic Church.
He said the Arinze’s life stands as a good testament to faith, intellectual brilliance and selfless dedication to both God and humanity.
Soludo said throughout his illustrious ecclesiastical career, Arinze has been a beacon of spiritual wisdom, diplomatic excellence and pastoral commitment.
He emphasised that his exemplary leadership within the church, particularly in spreading the gospel, fostering interfaith dialogue, and serving humanity with compassion and integrity, serves as a model for all.
The governor said his remarkable journey from Onitsha to the Vatican, the epicentre of Catholicism, is a profound source of pride for both Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.
His elevation to such heights of influence not only reflects personal achievement but also symbolises the aspirations and capabilities of the people of Anambra.
The governor further expressed his admiration for Arinze as an illustrious son of Anambra and joined his family, as well as Catholics worldwide, in wishing him divine guidance, robust health and continued inspirational leadership.
He hoped for many more blessed years ahead in the service of advancing Catholicism.
Arinze was born on November 1, 1932, in Eziowelle, a city within the Archdiocese of Onitsha in Anambra State, and his enduring legacy continues to inspire generations.
