Soldiers nab suspected informant in Zamfara

The Nigerian Army said its soldiers on internal security operations Magam town, in Zamfara State, have arrested three persons suspected to be working as informants to criminals and bandits groups terrorizing the area.

The suspects, according to Director Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, were arrested by troops at Gobirawa Fulani village following Intelligence report.

Chukwu, who made this known in a statement, also said soldiers from Operation IDON RAINI in the state rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered four motorcycles at Abobo village from bandits while on a patrol duty at Dansadau Maru Local Government Area of the State.

Gen. Chukwu’s statement made available to Daily Sun, reads, “Troops deployed at Magam town on 25 June 2018 arrested three suspected informants in Gobirawa Fulani village following a tip off.

“The suspects are alleged to be responsible for giving information to bandits before they carry out attacks.

“Preliminary investigation is ongoing while the suspects will be handed over to appropriate authority on completion.

“Similarly, troops deployed in operation IDON RAINI while on patrol at Dansadau Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara  State rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered four motorcycles at Abobo village from bandits.

“The bandits abandoned their victim and the motorcycles on sighting the troops and fled into the bush.

“Efforts are being intensified by the troops to get the fleeing bandits.

“The public is reminded to always report any suspicious activities to the law enforcement agents for prompt action.
