Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have killed several Lakurawa terrorists and destroyed their enclave in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, recovering weapons and five motorcycles during a clearance operation.
The operation, conducted on Wednesday, saw troops of Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force (North-West) advance through identified terrorist hideouts around Alela, Bilange and Kandam villages towards Waria Forest.
The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a firefight, overpowering them with superior firepower and forcing them to flee deeper into the forest.
According to the task force’s Media Information Officer, Lt-Col Aliyu Danja, the troops pursued the fleeing terrorists and neutralised several of them.

He added that troops had sustained their operational presence in the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and threatening neighbouring communities.
The task force said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts, deny armed groups safe havens and restore lasting peace and security across the North-West.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their courage and resilience, urging residents to provide credible and timely information about suspicious movements and activities to support ongoing security operations.
