The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Fauziya Rabo in connection with a disturbing case of physical assault on her domestic worker, Bashariyya Usman.
The police public relations officer DSP Ahmad Rufai of the command said that they have received an official petition detailing the alleged abuse.
Following the complaint, police swiftly launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect, who is currently in custody.
The incident has sparked public outcry across Sokoto and beyond, with many calling for justice for the victim. While details of the case are still emerging, the police have assured the public that a thorough and impartial investigation is ongoing.
The commissioner of police in the state CP Ahmed Musa said his command strongly condemns all forms of domestic abuse and remains committed to upholding the rights and dignity of every individual, he said justice will be pursued in line with the law, and every party involved will be treated fairly and without bias.”
The Command also urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could jeopardize the investigation or incite panic.
As the case unfolds, the police have pledged transparency and promised to provide timely updates.
The Commissioner reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s broader commitment to protecting human rights and ensuring the safety of all residents, regardless of their social status.
