The Sokoto State government has extended its Ramadan feeding programme to cover all 244 political wards across the state’s 23 Local Government Areas, along with 27 specialised centres for physically challenged individuals.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto announced the expansion on Tuesday at Government House, Sokoto, emphasising his administration’s commitment to supporting the needy and vulnerable during the holy month.

In his address, the Governor highlighted that each of the 244 wards will receive 5 million Naira to provide essential items and food for iftar, while the 27 centres for the physically challenged will also receive the same amount.

He said the initiative builds upon the previous efforts of former Governor Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and aims to ensure that no one is left behind during Ramadan.

While addressing those entrusted with the funds, the Governor said:

“The task is given to you because of the strong confidence we have in you.

“Remember, this is a trust, and the needy deserve good food and essential commodities. Let us do the right thing so we can earn mercies, blessings, and forgiveness in this holy month.”

He urged beneficiaries to be orderly and cooperative, ensuring smooth distribution. He reassured the people of Sokoto that his administration remains dedicated to introducing social welfare programmes and executing meaningful projects for the state’s development.
