…Cautions Tinubu, Shettima against attendance
From Sola Ojo, Abuja
The leadership of the Southern Kaduna Peoples United-Association (SOKAPU) on Saturday distanced itself from the planned 2026 Southern Kaduna Festival (SKFEST), warning prominent Nigerians and the public to ignore it.
In a public disclaimer following an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council, SOKAPU stated that the festival, slated for May 28 to 30 in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of the State, was being organised by the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council (SKLC) and affiliated groups without its approval.

The National President of SOKAPU, Tabara Samuel Kato, maintained that the association remained the “only authentic and recognised socio-cultural umbrella organisation” representing the diverse ethnic communities of Southern Kaduna.
SOKAPU said it neither planned, endorsed nor authorised the festival and cautioned invited dignitaries, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ministers, governors, lawmakers and traditional rulers, to boycott the event.
Raising security concerns, SOKAPU accused some promoters of the festival of engaging in what it described as “mischief, malice and propaganda” against its leadership. The group called on security agencies to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
