In the ever-evolving world of Nigerian dance, where talent meets grit and consistency births greatness, one name continues to stand out with quiet confidence and undeniable flair; Chuks Jerry Ezenwa, popularly known as SoftMadeIt. For him, dance is not just an art form; it is the
air he breathes, the language he speaks, and the very essence of his existence.
Born on August 2, 1999, in Festac Town, Lagos, to Mr. Theodore and Mrs. Clair Chuks, SoftMadeIt hails originally from Imo State. His academic journey reflects both structure and versatility.
He began his primary education at Corona Primary School before completing it at Christ the Ultimate Primary School, Lagos. He proceeded to Queensland Academy and later Kings College, Lagos, where he completed his secondary education. Determined to balance creativity with technical knowledge, he went on to Babcock University, Ogun State, graduating with a degree in Computer Technology.
Long before the accolades and viral moments, dance had already found its home in SoftMadeIt’s life.
He recalls dancing as early as four years old, thrilling wedding guests as a flower boy whose dance steps often stole the show. Beyond dance, his creative instincts extended to music,
as he learned to play the piano and saxophone in church, clearly, these are early signs of a multifaceted artistic soul.
His earliest inspiration came from the late global pop icon, Michael Jackson.
SoftMadeIt would spend hours watching Jackson’s dance compilations, attempting to recreate the iconic moves that would later shape his own expressive style. While the passion was always present, it wasn’t until 2018 that he fully committed to dance as a professional
pursuit. That same year marked a turning point when Afrobeats superstar Davido reposted a video of SoftMadeIt dancing to Aje, a DMW track. That single repost opened doors, earning him recognition from top acts such as Tiwa Savage, Zlatan Ibile, Tekno, and Skiibii.
In 2020, lightning struck twice. SoftMadeIt participated in the D&G dance challenge from Davido’s A Good Time album, earning another repost that firmly launched his full-time career as a professional dancer. By April 2021, he experienced a massive TikTok breakout, becoming a viral sensation and a major force in Nigeria’s dance culture.
Since then, SoftMadeIt has performed and worked with an impressive lineup of global and Nigerian stars, including Davido, Wizkid, Rema, Seyi Vibez, BNXN (Buju), Young Jonn, Victony, Ice Prince, Blaqbonez, and more. His electrifying presence has graced major
stages such as Davido’s Timeless Concert, Wiz on the Beach, Homecoming, Trenchfest, and beyond.
Beyond dance, SoftMadeIt is also a gifted music producer, having produced tracks for rising stars like Buju and Joeboy during their early careers, as well as singles for acts such as Terrence Williams.
Today, SoftMadeIt stands as a testament to passion nurtured with discipline. From wedding dance floors to global stages, his journey proves that when talent meets purpose, the world can’t help but pay attention.
