Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar has returned to Valencia following a medical check-up in San Sebastián, and the news is positive.
The forward, who is on loan from Real Sociedad, consulted Dr Javier Barrera on Tuesday due to discomfort in his right knee, a joint he previously underwent surgery on after tearing his cruciate ligament.
The diagnosis from Real Sociedad’s medical team confirmed what the examinations in Valencia had shown: Sadiq is only experiencing inflammation.
The medical staff from both Real Sociedad and Valencia exchanged test results, providing relief for both the clubs and the players.
Sadiq first felt discomfort in the knee during his 88-minute performance in the Copa del Rey match against Ourense, which marked his third-longest outing of the season. Since then, he has been training alone due to a swollen knee, causing him some concern. The doctors agree that the discomfort is mild and is likely attributed to the period of inactivity and changes in training intensity.
During their visit to Mestalla, Real Sociedad inquired about the health of Sadiq, for whom they made a significant investment and hope to see an increase in value during his loan spell at Valencia. In discussions between the two clubs, Real Sociedad formally requested that Sadiq be examined in San Sebastián by Dr. Javier Barrera, who has been monitoring Sadiq’s knee recovery since the surgery performed by Dr. Mikel Sánchez in Vitoria.
Sadiq will continue his recovery in Valencia. He is scheduled to return to the Ciudad Deportiva in Paterna today, where Valencia will resume training under coach Carlos Corberán in preparation for Sunday’s match against Barcelona. While Sadiq’s participation in that match at Montjuïc is not guaranteed, the results of his examination indicate that he may soon rejoin the team.
Despite returning with encouraging news, Sadiq remains hopeful, expressing on his Instagram, “Lord, I am truly in need of any good that you can grant me.”
