The 2015 hit song “Shake Body” by Nigerian artist Raoul Nkeng-Njeng, also known as Skales, has regained popularity ten years after its initial release.

The increasing excitement surrounding the song is primarily due to new DJ remixes, particularly one by Dutch DJ Onderkoffer.

Skales posted this remix on music outlets, and within 10 hours, it had approximately 200,000 streams without being put to any playlists.

Lamine Yamal, a 17-year-old footballer for FC Barcelona, is another reason the song is popular again.

Yamal’s dance to “Shake Body” went viral on TikTok, helping a new generation discover the song.

Skales is not the only Nigerian artist to experience this kind of comeback.

Other songs like Mike Ejeagha’s “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” and CKay’s “Love Nwantiti” have also become TikTok hits years after they were released.

Skales took to social media to share how surprised and thankful he was.

He wrote, “This is crazy! With the momentum of Shakebody trending again, I decided to officially release this DJ remix I heard in Europe last year and in 10 hours, it’s already almost 200k streams with no form of playlist support, that’s craaazy … thank you Jesus !!! God indeed works in mysterious ways.”
