Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has cancelled its 5-man delegate Congress and councillorship primaries slated for today.
This was contained in a statement signed by the state Chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha.
Emegha claimed that the reason for the cancellation was to enable the screening committee to screen the aspirants and the delegates in the interest of justice and fair Play.
“This is to inform Members of the All Progressives Congress, Ebonyi State Chapter and indeed the general public that the 5-man Delegates Congress and Councillorship Primary Elections of the party slated for Thursday, 30th May 2024 have been postponed.
“The reason for the postponement is that the Leader of the party, His Excellency, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Bldr, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in his wisdom directed that sufficient time be given to the aspirants to enable the State APC Screening Committee to screen them accordingly in the interest of justice and fair-play.
“Consequently, the 5-man Delegates Congress and Councillorship Primary Elections of the party will now be held on Friday, 31st May 2024 in the 13LGAs across the state by 8.00 am,” he stated.
