The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on corps members posted to Ondo State to resist the allure of get-rich-quick schemes and focus instead on personal development, integrity, and national service in line with Nigeria’s core values.
This message was conveyed during a lecture titled “Avoid Temptation to Get Rich Quickly,” delivered to Batch A Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko. Representing the NOA State Director, Mr. James Adekunle, was Mr. Babatunde Akinde, the Assistant Director and Head of Youth Engagement and Inclusion (YEI).
Addressing the corps members, Mr. Akinde warned against the dangers of chasing wealth through dishonest or corrupt means. He emphasized that integrity, hard work, and patriotism remain the bedrock of a strong and united Nigeria.
“You must resist leaders who seek to manipulate you against constituted authority,” he said. “Our country’s unity is threatened by immorality, impunity, social injustice, and the breakdown of law and order. As young Nigerians, you have a duty to protect the nation’s values and future.”
The NOA official encouraged corps members to engage in entrepreneurship and legitimate ventures as a means to not only earn a livelihood but also contribute meaningfully to national development. He underscored the agency’s commitment to value reorientation and civic responsibility, urging the youth to shun negative vices that could tarnish the country’s image.
Outlining the mission and objectives of the NOA, Mr. Akinde noted the agency’s dedication to promoting national unity, instilling value-based living, and fostering community and national development through informed and responsible citizenship.
The lecture served as a wake-up call to corps members, reinforcing the message that their year of national service is not just about serving the country, but also about growing personally and professionally within the framework of honesty and civic duty.
