The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero has appealed to officers of the Nigeria Customs Service to show compassion to local traders who may come short of the law based on their ignorance.
The monarch made the appeal during a courtesy visit by the  Zonal Coordinator (Zone B)  of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ify Queen Ogbudu to his palace.
Stressing the importance of enlightenment and community engagement to curb these kind of breaches, he pledged the palace’s support in facilitating legitimate trade in the region.
Bayero commended the Service’ efforts in reducing disputes between traders and their officials through stakeholder engagements while appreciating  their enlightenment initiatives for local traders and businessmen towards the pursuit of lawful trade.
In her remarks, the Zonal Coordinator emphasized the dedication of the Nigeria Customs Service to preventing illegal exportation of grains amidst the current food crisis.
She pñeaded for the monarchs support in ensuring  that these grains reach those in need as directed by the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi
She also sought the Emir’s blessings, fatherly advice and guidance.
