London-based AI engineer Shoaib Nasr is advancing the United Kingdom’s digital technology landscape through the development of high-impact artificial intelligence solutions focused on financial fraud detection, accessibility, and infrastructure resilience.
With over six years of experience in building production-grade AI systems, Nasr is currently working as a Freelance AI Developer and Technical Architect with AGByte Labs, where he leads the development of an AI-enabled personal finance fraud shield designed to detect fraudulent transactions in real time with over 90 percent accuracy.
His work aligns with the broader ambitions outlined in the UK National AI Strategy, which positions artificial intelligence as a central driver of economic growth and innovation.
The UK continues to face a significant shortage of experienced AI engineers, as highlighted in reports by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, creating demand for professionals capable of delivering scalable, enterprise-ready systems. Nasr’s expertise in areas such as natural language processing, machine learning, and GDPR-compliant architectures directly addresses this gap while supporting national priorities in fintech, healthcare, and digital infrastructure.
At the core of his current work is the development of a fraud detection system that integrates advanced AI models with secure data handling protocols in line with GDPR requirements. The solution is designed to support financial institutions in tackling fraud, which UK Finance estimates costs the country over £1 billion annually, by enabling faster, more accurate detection of suspicious transactions. By combining technical precision with regulatory awareness, Nasr’s approach reflects a growing shift toward responsible AI deployment in highly regulated environments.
Prior to his current role, Nasr delivered several large-scale AI projects across global markets, demonstrating measurable impact. At 1Key Solution, he led the development of an AI-orchestrated disaster recovery system that reduced system downtime by 40 percent and generated over £250,000 in annual operational savings for enterprise clients. He also played a key role in building Deaftawk, an award-winning AI platform that enhances communication for the deaf community, now serving more than 8,000 users across five countries and earning international recognition, including the Global Inclusion Award.
Reflecting on his journey and vision, Nasr said, “The real value of artificial intelligence lies in its ability to solve meaningful problems, whether that is protecting financial systems, improving accessibility, or strengthening critical infrastructure. My focus has always been on building solutions that are both technically robust and socially impactful.” His long-term ambition includes establishing a UK-based technology company dedicated to developing ethical and inclusive AI tools for underserved communities and regulated industries.
Beyond his professional work, Nasr has consistently contributed to talent development aand digital inclusion. Through initiatives with organisations such as The Citizens Foundation, he has designed and delivered structured programming courses for underserved youth, achieving an 85 percent completion rate and preparing participants for careers in technology. With academic credentials including a Master’s degree from the University of Northampton and professional experience spanning Pakistan, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, Nasr continues to strengthen his position as a forward-thinking AI leader contributing to the UK’s innovation ecosystem.
