Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Saturday, urged Kano State residents to set aside political differences and promote peace.

He made the appeal during a condolence visit to the family of the late Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, who passed away two weeks ago.

A press release by Mustapha Muhammad, Chief Press Secretary to Kano State Governor, quoted Shettima: “Kano is the heart of the north and I am from North…May Allah bring unity among us.” Shettima emphasised Kano’s regional importance and the need for harmony.

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf welcomed Shettima, stating: “We thank you so much for coming to commiserate with us over the death of our father, grandfather. We pray for Almighty Allah to take you back home safely.” Yusuf expressed gratitude for the visit.

Sunusi Abbas, representing the late Galadiman’s family, thanked Shettima and prayed for unity, saying: “We keep praying, may the demise of Galadiman Kano become an avenue for unity among the political leaders in Kano.”

He added: “We saw every representative of the political parties. We are grateful to the governor who was here at the funeral and came back to condole us again, now he is here with Vice President, we are grateful.”
