Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday, commissioned the Kwara Garment Factory in Ilorin, a major industrial facility projected to create at least 4,000 jobs when it reaches full production capacity.
He also inaugurated the 11-storey Kwara Revenue Service House, headquarters of the state’s internal revenue service.
The projects were commissioned during Shettima’s visit for the turbaning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the first Sardauna of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
According to a statement by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima, at the ceremony, commended AbdulRazaq’s investments in education, healthcare and road infrastructure and urged the state to sustain its development programmes.

“These are chapters in the story of a state as its people encounter it: the lesson a child can attend, the treatment a household can seek, and the market a farmer can reach,” he said.
The garment factory is designed for multi-shift production and is projected to provide more than 4,000 direct jobs at full capacity, with more than 500 workers already recruited and trained for its initial operations.
The 11-storey Revenue House will serve as the administrative headquarters of the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service.
Governors of Imo, Kebbi, Plateau, Ekiti, Ogun, Niger, Bayelsa and Kaduna states attended the ceremonies.
Other dignitaries included the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima, who represented First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole; Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; Emir of Zazzau, Nuhu Bamalli; and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III.
