The former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, Sardaunan Kano, has expressed his deep condolences to the families, the people, and the government of Kano State over the tragic accident at Dakatsalle, which claimed the lives of 19 athletes and some officials.
“As the state was waiting to receive these patriotic sons of Kano who have done the state proud at the recently concluded National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, only to be greeted with such devastating news,” he lamented.

“We are consoled by the fact that the young athletes met their death while on state assignment,” said the former governor.
He prayed that God would grant them eternal rest and the families the fortitude to bear the loss.
