The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Hon. Usman Shehu Bawa, popularly known as Shehu ABG, has called on the party’s National and State Assembly candidates to unite and work together ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bawa made the call on Saturday, September 19, during a meeting he convened with PDP candidates and aspirants at his campaign office in Kaduna.
The meeting was attended by candidates contesting seats in the House of Representatives and the Kaduna State House of Assembly, as well as aspirants who participated in the party’s last primary elections.
Bawa, who emerged as the PDP’s governorship candidate for the 2027 Kaduna election in May, said the party could achieve its objectives only through cooperation among its candidates and members.
“As we prepare for the general elections, it is important that we set aside our differences and work together for the success of our party,” Bawa said.
“Our collective success hinges on our ability to unite as candidates and as a party towards achieving a common cause.”
The governorship candidate also appealed to aspirants who did not secure the party’s nominations to support those who emerged as candidates, stressing that the interests of the party should take precedence over individual ambitions.
“We have a vision that would move Kaduna State forward. We also have a responsibility to our party and our constituents,” he said.
“By supporting one another, we can amplify our voices and present a united front to the electorate.”

Bawa further urged candidates to maintain close cooperation as campaigns gather momentum, saying a coordinated approach would strengthen the party’s efforts across the state.
The PDP candidate also expressed concern over what he described as attacks on opposition political parties, condemning such actions as “primitive” and inconsistent with the political development of the country.
He said political differences should not translate into attacks or actions that undermine democratic participation.
The call for unity comes as political activities intensify in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections.
Bawa has previously emphasised unity and peaceful political engagement in his public engagements, including a June appeal for political actors and supporters to place the interests of Kaduna above partisan considerations.
At Saturday’s meeting, participants reportedly committed themselves to greater collaboration and solidarity as the PDP prepares for the elections.
The party’s Kaduna governorship ticket currently has Bawa as the candidate and Amos Adamu Gandu as his running mate.
The meeting ended with renewed calls for cooperation among the party’s candidates and other stakeholders ahead of the 2027 polls.
