Shakeup as INEC redeploys 2 RECs, 8 directorate staff

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has redeployed two Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) and eight directorate staff.
The statement signed by National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, noted that the redeployment takes immediate effect while the handing and taking over must be concluded on or before August 26.
The Commission wrote that; “the public may recall that on March 24, 2022, the commission redeployed 385 staff nationwide. On that occasion, the commission announced that it will be a routine exercise which will continue from time to time.
“In line with the extant policy, the commission hereby redeploys two RECs and eight directorate level staff. The redeployments/postings take immediate effect. Handing and taking over should be concluded on/or before Friday, August 26, 2022,” the statement read.
Revealing the identities of the affected staff, the commission noted, in the statement that, Cyril Omorogbe, the current REC of Rivers will now resume at Akwa-Ibom State as replacement for retired Mike Igini. Alalibo Johnson Sinikiem, formally Edo State REC will now take over in Cross River State.
At the directorate level, Paul Omokore, hitherto Director, Planning and Monitoring Department, headquarters is now Director ICT, headquarters. Chidi Nwafor, Director ICT, headquarters is now redeployed to Enugu as Administrative Secretary. Chima Duruaku, Administrative Secretary, Anambra is now the Director, Planning and Monitoring Department, headquarters.
Others include Jude Okwuanu, hitherto Administrative Secretary, Enugu is now Administrative Secretary, Anambra, Usman Musa Wase, hitherto Acting Director, Human Resource Management, headquarters now becomes the Acting Administrative Secretary, Nasarawa State, Salisu Garba, Director, in the Electoral Operations department, now takes over as Director Procurement, headquarters.
Waziri Zanna, Acting Administrative Secretary, FCT is now redeployed as Acting Director, Human Resource Management, headquarters. Godwin Wada Edibo, Acting Administrative Secretary is now Acting Administrative Secretary, FCT.
