Sevilla’s AFCON 2025 bronze-medal-winning duo, Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke, have been granted a day off. Wednesday’s training session at Sevilla’s facility was a family-oriented affair, with manager Matías Almeyda contending with nine absentees as they gear up for Saturday’s clash against Athletic Bilbao. Among those rested were the newcomers Adams and Ejuke, who had recently played vital roles in Nigeria’s AFCON campaign.
Since Adams and Ejuke left for the Africa Cup of Nations, Sevilla has struggled to find the net, remaining goalless until Adams returned and scored twice to earn a crucial point for his team at the Martínez Valero. The two players flew back to Seville just after noon on Sunday, adorned with the bronze medals they earned in Morocco, with Adams having made significant contributions to the Super Eagles’ success in the tournament. In contrast, Ejuke had minimal playing time, featuring for just 12 minutes across two matches.
Adams became a cornerstone for Nigeria, starting six out of seven matches and celebrating two goals and two assists along the way. He demonstrated his penalty-taking prowess once again against Elche, clinching vital moments in the team’s AFCON journey.
