Secretary General, Committee of Vice Chancellor (CVC), Prof. Yakubu Ochefu, on Thursday, delivered valedictory lecture in honour of Prof. Williams Qurix, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State.

The lecture which focused on leadership agility and accountability in Nigerian universities in the era of education 4.0, highlighted some of the measures that universities can adopt to remain relevant in the changing world.

He appreciated the wisdom and managerial skills that was used by the Prof. Qurix to pull the school out of crisis period and placed it on the path of development, academically and otherwise.

Prof. Ochefu described a Vice Chancellor as a Chief Executive Officer, Chief Security Officer,
Chief Accountant Officer, Chief Data Officer of the university, hence the requisite skills and competence are required to manage the institutions.

Former Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Prof. Elias Bogoro, in his remarks, said that Prof. Qurix was leaving a big shoe for his successor, expecting that the successor will continue from where he stopped.

He recalled with nostalgia, the managerial crisis that rocked the school some years ago shortly before the appointment of Prof. Qurix as a the Acting Vice Chancellor of the school, appreciating the wisdom adopted by the VC to return the school to the place of peace and stability which resulted in massive development in the school, academically and otherwise.

He advised the school management against the practice of localizing the management positions of the school, stressing that competence should be prioritize and considered in the choice of management staff of the school against other factors.

Chairman of the Governing Council of the University, Prof. Andrew Haruna, in his remarks, thanked Prof. Qurix for the peace, stability and transformation that was witnessed in the school in the past five years.

He particularly commended him for ensuring smooth transition to the new Vice Chancellor, thus wishing him luck in future endeavors.

Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Suleiman Bala Mohammed, assured the management of Bingham University that their choice of Prof. Kuje Ayuba, was right one considering his capacity and competence.
