The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Imo West, also known as Orlu Zone, Dr Jones Onyereri, has assured youths from the area, under the umbrella of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, of quality representation in the Senate if elected next year.

Speaking while receiving the socio cultural youth body on a courtesy visit to his country home in Nkwerre Local Government Area, Imo State, Dr Onyereri, who was the PDP deputy governorship candidate in the November 2023 Imo governorship election, described the youths as the greatest asset of Orlu Zone, reiterating his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment.

“I was delighted to receive the leadership of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, led by its National President, Hon. Prince Izunna Obiefula, during a courtesy visit to my country home in Nkwerre LGA.

“I sincerely appreciate the confidence, support and goodwill expressed by the youth body. Our young people remain the greatest asset of Orlu Zone, and I firmly believe that the future of our communities depends on how well we invest in and empower them today.

“During our interaction, I reassured the delegation of my unwavering commitment to youth development, empowerment and inclusive leadership,” Dr Onyereri said in a statement.

Continuing, the PDP senatorial candidate said: “I told them, send me, and I will make you proud. I understand the challenges facing our youths today, and I am fully prepared to provide purposeful leadership and effective representation that will attract development, create opportunities and restore hope to our people.

“I am encouraged by their assurances of support and partnership. Together, we shall continue to engage, unite and work towards a more prosperous, secure and progressive Orlu Zone.

“The future belongs to our youths, and together, we will make Orlu Zone greater.

“I also emphasised that leadership must be rooted in service, accessibility, accountability and genuine concern for the welfare of the people.”

In his remarks, Hon. Prince Izunna Obiefula commended Dr Onyereri’s record of service, philanthropy and commitment to human capital development. He noted that the youths of Orlu Zone recognise his contributions over the years and believe that he possesses the experience and capacity required to effectively represent Orlu Zone in the Senate.
