From Noah Ebije, Kaduna
Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has concluded a week-long tour of the eight local government areas in the Kaduna South Senatorial District, using the outreach to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The tour, which spanned communities across Southern Kaduna, was described by the senator as both an engagement and mobilisation effort aimed at strengthening party structures and aligning the region with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing stakeholders at various stops, including Zangon Kataf, Katung emphasised what he called the “politics of performance”, pointing to federal projects delivered under the Tinubu administration.
Among these, he highlighted the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre, Kafanchan, describing them as long-awaited developments for the district.
“For decades, Southern Kaduna asked for these institutions. President Tinubu listened and acted. That is the politics of performance, not empty promises,” the senator said.
Throughout the tour, Katung met with youth groups, women leaders, and party members, reiterating the need for continuity in governance at both the federal and state levels.

He argued that sustained alignment with the APC would attract further development to the region.
The senator also commended Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, citing his inclusive approach and efforts to foster unity across Kaduna State.
He described the governor as one who “sees the entire state as his constituency”, adding that his administration has taken deliberate steps to rebuild trust among diverse communities.
Katung urged residents of Southern Kaduna to prioritise development-driven politics over ethnic or sentimental considerations, stressing that the region’s political relevance depends on strategic engagement.
“Our duty is clear; we must galvanise every ward, every polling unit, and every household to return them in 2027,” he said.
The tour, according to the senator’s media office, was also intended to gather feedback from constituents and reinforce party structures at the grassroots level as preparations gradually begin for the next election cycle.
