Akwa Ibom South Senator Sampson Ekong has commended President Bola Tinubu for ensuring prompt promotion in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Ekong gave the commendation at a reception held in honour of the newly promoted Commissioner of Police, Uduak Ita, following the decoration ceremony conducted by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of newly promoted senior police officers at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The senator, who described Ita’s elevation as a “vindication of merit and hard work,” said her promotion symbolises growing recognition for women in leadership roles across the country.

He said, “I want to thank President Bola Tinubu for this elevation. This is a vindication for hard work, this is a vindication for merit. I also thank the police. Her elevation is a well-deserved one.

“This is the season for women as we all know this country is celebrating. We are in a joyous mood because of the glory that women have brought to us. If you watch the Falcons, our young girls perform in Morocco a few days ago you will agree that this is the time for women. So, I want to salute our women for your distinction. CP Uduak is a professional who is ready to achieve very high in her chosen career.

“I am really proud of her, it shows that when you work hard, when you pray, the sky is your limit. So, on behalf of Akwa Ibom South, I stand here to celebrate an Amazon, a proud daughter of Akwa Ibom State. A very consenting grown Nigerian who is indeed a superstar in the Nigeria Police. With her type, there is hope that this country will be repositioned.

“I pray the good Lord will guide the celebrant to succeed even more to climb even higher. She has what it takes to reach the very peak of her profession. I wish her the very best and I trust that the good Lord who has brought you this far will continue to protect you and make you proud of Nigeria.”

Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 7, Victor Olaiya, has described the promotion as well-deserved.

Olaiya advised CP Uduak Otu Ita to continue to make the police proud by performing her duties.

He attested to the hard work of Otu, saying that they both worked together for several years.

According to the AIG, “Today is indeed a historical day. Historical in the sense that in a lifetime of anyone who is in this organisation (Police), it comes once in a lifetime. And that is why it is indeed historic. Yes, we call it exalted because it only comes from above. That rank is one rank that when you get there, you can now fly a flag on your official vehicle; that is the dream of everyone wearing this uniform to fly that flag. Finally, she arrived in that position, congratulations Uduak.”

The newly promoted CP Uduak Otu Ita praised the police force for the promotion and vowed to continue to work assiduously for the betterment of the police and the country.

She said: “Praise master Jesus. I want to give God the glory because it can only be God. The gathering of today is not man-made because God has arranged it. I thank him because becoming a CP is not the making of man. We started with about two hundred and forty-nine or two hundred and fifty and we lost close to seventy, and we are still here standing up. It can only be God and it is not the way you see it.

“If God has been building something, no man can stop it, so I am joyous because I have people like this standing by me. I can only tell everyone thank you very much for this love, words can never explain the love, it can never express it, and I want to say thank you.”
