Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing the Osun East Senatorial District, has declared support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, in his governorship campaign, asserting that Oyebamiji possesses the necessary competence and financial expertise to guide Osun towards prosperity.

Fadahunsi described Oyebamiji as a seasoned administrator and financial expert, stressing that his background as a chartered accountant will be pivotal in restoring fiscal discipline and sustainable development in the state.

He criticised the current state administration, claiming Osun is grappling with severe governance and financial issues. He expressed confidence that the state would benefit from Oyebamiji’s leadership in the upcoming August 8, 2026 off-cycle governorship election.

Speaking in Abuja during the presentation of the Most Media Friendly Maritime CEO Award to Oyebamiji by the Coalition of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria, Fadahunsi said: “Acknowledging the significant challenges that the next administration will face, it is my belief that Oyebamiji’s public service experience and financial management skills will allow him to effectively address these issues.”

He highlighted Oyebamiji’s innovative approach and accomplished background in accounting, noting: “Accountants are prudent, methodical, and financially disciplined. They ensure resources are properly sourced and managed before embarking on projects.”

Senator Fadahunsi characterised Oyebamiji as a focused administrator who has consistently exemplified fiscal responsibility in public office. He referenced Oyebamiji’s tenure at the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), where he implemented significant reforms and improvements in a short time.

“We are expecting him to replicate the transformation he accomplished at NIWA in Osun. The state is in distress, and the next leader must be ready to rebuild and strategically reposition it. I am confident he possesses the abilities required,” Fadahunsi said.
