Senate President Godswill Akpabio has shuffled the leadership of key Senate committees to realign them with their responsibilities within the upper chamber.
A major change is the reconstitution of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, now to be chaired by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi. Until the reshuffle, Abdullahi led the Committee on National Planning.
In a related adjustment, Senator Mustafa Musa has been named the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Planning.

Announcing the changes in plenary on Tuesday, Akpabio said the decision was made by the Selection Committee, which he chairs.
The Senate also restructured the Committee on Livestock and Animal Husbandry, appointing Shehu Buba as its new chairman, barely a week after he was removed as Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Intelligence.
Additionally, Senate Minority Whip Osita Ngwu has been appointed Acting Chairman of the Senate Committee on Air Force. Ngwu previously served as the committee’s Deputy Chairman. He steps in for Senator Godiya Akwashiki, who is currently indisposed.
