The upper legislative chambers of the National Assembly, the Senate, has lauded the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for mentoring and guidance of corps members for leadership responsibilities.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Youth Development, Yemi Adaramodu, made the commendation when he paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, at the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, Adaramodu said that the immeasurable contributions of corps members to national development cannot be quantified.
Reminiscing on his youth service year as a corps member in Ogun State, Adaramodu emphasised that NYSC opportunity gave him a leeway in life, advising Nigerian youths to aspire to become leaders irrespective of where they find themselves.

He said: “I am passionate about NYSC because it is for Nigerian youths. I am passionate to be a part of the NYSC Core Values. We are going to stand with the Scheme through thick and thin. We are going to contribute more to support the Scheme.”

Speaking further, the lawmaker hinted that efforts are still on-going to get presidential assent for the NYSC Trust Fund calling for the continuity of the scheme because of its roles in nation-building, youth empowerment and infrastructural development.
In his remarks, the NYSC Director General, lauded Adaramodu for his immense contributions to the scheme starting from when he was the Chairman, House Committee on Youth and Sports.
General Ahmed assured the senator of his administration’s desire to take the Scheme to enviable heights.

The statement from Eddy Megwa, Director, Information and Public Relations, noted that Adaramodu inspected the new NYSC ICT building, NYSC Television News Studio and NYSC Museum during the visit, where he commended the management for their pragmatic and innovative leadership.
