The Senate has approved President Bola Tinubu’s nomination of Joseph Oyewole (JCA) as a Justice of the Supreme Court.
Until his elevation, Justice Oyewole was the presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division.
In a letter to the Senate last week, Tinubu urged the Senate to “consider and confirm the nomination expeditiously.”

The approval followed the consideration and approval of recommendations of a report by the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters in the Committe of the Whole on Tuesday.
Chairman of the committee, Adegbonmire Ayodele, who prayed the senators to approve its recommendation, having done due diligence on the candidate and not finding him wanting in any way.
In his comments after the Senate reverted to plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio charged the justice to discharge his duties faithfully and ensure that “justice to be served to the common man” and “even to the Senate.”
He also commended the president For “finding a square peg in a square hole that had no dent,” thereby mak8ng it easy for the Senate to confirm him.
