Senate Committee to meet finance, budget ministers Jan. 7

The Appropriations Committee of the Senate is scheduled to lay the report of the 2025 budget on Tuesday, January 31, 2025.

The Appropriations Committee will commence meetings with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun and his counterpart in the Ministry of Budget and Economic  Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu on Tuesday, January 7.

It will also meet with the Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation on the same day.

Budget Defence of Appropriations Sub-committees with relevant MDAs (Joint Defence with House of Representatives counterparts) has been scheduled for Wednesday 8 to Wednesday, January, 15 2025.

On December 18, President Bola Tinubu presented the 2025 proposed N49.7 trillion budget to the joint session of the National Assembly.

The budget tagged “Restoration budget, securing peace and building prosperity” seeks to restore macroeconomic growth and build the economy.

Both the leadership of the House of Representatives and the Senate have promised to give expedited passage to the money bill which failed to meet the annual January to December budget cycle.
